Costco members already save money on everything from groceries to glasses. Now, they can cut the cost of insuring their pets.
The warehouse giant is offering an exclusive discount on plans provided by Figo Pet Insurance. Figo offers coverage through Independence American Insurance Co.
Costco Gold Star and Business members earn 15% off the cost of a policy. Executive and Business Executive members get that discount and also do not have to pay the $15 enrollment fee that comes with such plans.
In exchange for paying monthly pet insurance premiums, members can be reimbursed up to 100% for their pet’s medical expenses. Premium costs vary and are based on your pet’s age, breed and location and the plan you choose. You can visit the Costco website to get a free quote.
To get reimbursement, members can submit their paid-in-full vet bill online or via Figo’s Pet Cloud app.
Costco notes that the pet insurance plans typically cover things such as:
- Emergency and hospitalization
- Veterinary specialists
- Hereditary and congenital conditions
- Chronic conditions
- Dental illness and injury
- Knee conditions
- Prosthetics and orthopedics
- Hip dysplasia
Optional add-on coverage is available for veterinary exam fees and a routine wellness plan that includes routine dental care.
Costco is not the only retailer exploring the world of pet coverage. As we reported last year, Walmart also offers discounted pet insurance.
